It’s December – can you believe it? We are wrapping up 2025 by focusing on a powerful lesson inside the Fresh Start Experience: Empowered Happy January, sweet families — and welcome to a brand new year!

January is a natural reset. A chance to pause, reflect, and decide how we want to think, feel, and show up as we move forward. That’s why we’re beginning 2026 inside the Fresh Start Experience with a perfect lesson: Mindset.

Before tools work… before strategies stick… before change lasts… our mindset matters.

When our thoughts feel heavy, hopeless, or stuck, parenting can feel exhausting and defeating. But when our mindset is rooted in courage, growth, and truth, everything becomes more possible — even on the hard days.

Inside this month’s lesson, Wendy guides you through how the thoughts you engage with shape your emotions, your reactions, and the energy in your home.

You’ll learn how to notice unhelpful thought patterns with compassion, not criticism — and how to gently shift them into thoughts that leave you feeling more capable, grounded, and hopeful.

In this lesson, you’ll practice how to:

• Notice when your mind is watering “weeds” like fear, blame, or discouragement
• Understand how scarcity thinking fuels reactivity and stress
• Strengthen a growth mindset that supports patience, creativity, and connection
• Identify Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTS) and replace them with Positive Empowering Thoughts (PETS)
• Model courageous self-talk out loud so your kids learn it too
• Anchor into determination and unconditional love — even when parenting feels hard

As Wendy shares in the lesson, “Fear breeds fear… and courage breeds courage.”

January Activity: Strengthening a Growth Mindset

This month’s activity walks you step-by-step through identifying the thoughts that tend to trip you up — and how to shift them in a way that actually rewires your brain.

You’ll work through:
• The Growth Mindset Self-Talk Chart
• The ANTS → PETS mindset shifting exercise
• Reflection prompts that help you feel empowered instead of stuck

This is powerful, foundational work — and even small mindset shifts can create big changes over time.

A simple, grounding reminder you can return to all month long:

“If you’re tempted to say ‘I can’t,’ have the courage to add ‘yet.’”

Print it, post it, or keep it nearby as you practice strengthening your inner dialogue.

This month’s kids lesson pairs beautifully with your own learning: Growth Mindset

Kids will explore what it means to believe in themselves, keep trying when things feel hard, and talk to themselves with kindness instead of criticism.

Through stories, activities, and reflection, kids will learn:
• That mistakes help them grow
• How to shift from “I can’t” to “I’m learning”
• Why effort matters more than perfection
• How to practice brave, encouraging self-talk

This lesson gives kids language and tools that support confidence, resilience, and emotional safety — especially when challenges pop up.
