FAMILY HIGHLIGHT SERIES – MEET THE BURCHFIELD FAMILY

by | May 16, 2016 | 0 comments

Today’s the day! Last call for registrations for tonight’s positive parenting seminar that I’ll be teaching in Carlsbad entitled “Creating Cooperative Families & Setting Limits Successfully”. Won’t you join me? Click here for the seminar flyer & here to register.

Over the last week, I’ve really enjoyed featuring some of my favorite families that I’ve had the privilege of teaching RCB to. These families have been so supportive and answered some questions about how completing a positive parenting class has helped their families learn and grow. If you’ve ever wondered how Positive Parenting support or instruction can help you in your parenting journey, these families answer a lot of questions you may have, so definitely take a look back at the series. Real families, facing real parenting challenges (and joys) in day to day life, learning together and growing together. Thank you for your support Fresh Start families, you are all AMAZING!

Meet the Burchfield family…

One of the biggest blessings in my life at this point is the amazing community of neighbors (friends!) that I have on our block. Living on Cambria Way is kid heaven! Our kiddos can pretty much be assured that someone will be out for a stroll, bike ride or play session no matter what time of the day they walk outside. As parents, getting to build friendships with other families in the same current walk of life is priceless. Happy hours and three year old birthdays on our block are ALWAYS so…much…fun. The Burchfields are one these amazing families we get to share in this journey with as we watch our munchkins grow. And our little guys happen to be besties too. Hearing two little five year old boys who get along great (well most of the time!), play endlessly for ours with legos, bow and arrows and superheros will be music to my ears that I will always cherish. The joy of their friendship makes me smile and I can’t wait to see them start kinder next year together. Kate is incredibly sweet and caring, so of course having her join us for class a few years back was great!

-How has learning RCB changed the way you view parenting or your kid(s)?

“My biggest takeaway from the RCB class was the notion of being equipped with a tool belt to enable me to deal with different situations. It gave me ideas on how I can respond to things that will help my children in a variety of ways. If one tool doesn’t work, you can try another. Pay attention and see what works best for your family. “*

-What tool from RCB would you say you use often with your kids? How does it help?

“I love the pause button. It’s such an important tool for everyone to practice! My kids have gotten really good and stopping and taking a deep breath when they start to feel out of control.”

-Has RCB helped you change your perspective of your kids misbehavior? If yes, how?

“Yes, it gave me more sympathy towards my kids. I know they aren’t trying to drive me nuts. They are small and they are learning. Life can be overwhelming to them just like it can be for anyone!”

-Was taking time out of your busy schedule to learn RCB beneficial for you & would you recommend it to other families?

“Yes, definitely! I would take it again and I have recommended it to a number of friends. This is time well spent. It will only benefit your family.”

-Did being in community with other parents during the class bring awareness or comfort to you?

“Yes, so much!!! It was incredibly comforting! It’s so interesting to see what other people are going through at different stages in their lives. We can learn so much from one another.”
