On today’s show, Wendy and Terry interview Nate & Jenna Strubhar, an incredible couple who fully embrace mindful simple living & gentle positive parenting. They reside in Maui, Hawaii with their two kids (ages 9 & 6). Listen in for encouragement & inspiration on your own journey of parenting with more intention & connection.

In today’s episode, the Snyders discuss the 4 pillars of family life that the Strubhars have chosen to prioritize in their home:

  • Healthy eating
    • The desire to fuel their family with food from the earth that boosts their immune system and allows them to thrive
    • The importance of instilling respect for the process of growing and/or hunting food
    • Jenna has written two vegan cookbooks linked below
  • Simple living – adopting a minimalist lifestyle
    • Their goal is to not be distracted by “stuff” so they have more time to focus on the things they truly care about
    • Instill a heart of gratitude instead of an attitude of entitlement
  • Prioritizing time outdoors & traveling
    • The power of connecting with nature & what God has created benefits our bodies & our minds
    • Deciding to be outside no matter the weather or how busy we are in order to reset our entire system
    • Nature soothes everyone’s souls, especially children, who often experience a nature deficit
  • Faith in Jesus that compels them to parent with compassion, grace, kindness, & connection
    • Christianity aligns so beautifully with gentle parenting because Jesus models this way of life to his believers
    • How does God parent us?
      • He is gentle & offers grace, loving kindness, patience, & immediate forgiveness
      • He does not shame, isolate, or condemn
      • He hates being separated from his children & always strives for constant connection
    • As believers, we’re called by the Lord to parent our children in a gentle way that promotes love & peace as our source of power
    • If we ask the Holy Spirit for guidance in our own parenting journey we will find wisdom & discernment
